Bike map- a work in progress

  1. I like the colors on your map. Your routes show up well and the city of Asheville boundary is easily defined. In the legend, you might want to describe more of what the categories mean (such as lane diet). Putting a title on the inset of downtown could better show viewers what area they are looking at. Nice!

  2. Maybe tone down the Buncombe County color, more towards white. Show inset area on big map, label both the same. Bike data looks good.

  3. Everything stands out nicely, but it appears you have two different color schemes going ...an earth tone back drop and bright color routs. I think the overall appearance might be more integrated if you used variations of one or the other color scheme. I really like how the routes 'pop' against the backdrop.

  4. I'm not a huge fan of the bike lane colors but I do like the contast and the way they stand out. I would consider toning down the river a bit. I think it takes away from the bike lanes. Can you add the hillshade for Henderson County? That would eliminate the white space at the bottom and make your map more balanced.

  5. I like what you have done, but that little piece of white area in the lower right corner is distracting. Maybe you could balance things out some.

  6. The colors pop a bit much and form a new color scheme, contrasting the earth tones of the background (similar to what Buddy said).

Maybe try reducing the saturation of the current bike lane colors? Downtown inset is a great idea!

  7. Oh and also, I'd change the color of rivers/streams to a more natural, more common "water" blue.

  8. Good bike route info. The colors are bold, bet you'll have love it or hate it responses.
